Grace Huang began her photography career almost by accident while attending Harvard University as a Visual And Environmental Studies major. Grace picked up a Pentax K1000, her first camera, as a sophomore and developed an instantaneous love for photography. Under the tutelage of acclaimed fine art photographer Christopher James, Grace went on to document punks in Harvard Square and shoot the requisite moody scenes in Mount Auburn Cemetery. She continued with post-graduate studies when she was awarded a Rotary International Fellowship, at the École Nationale de la Photographie in Arles, France.
Returning stateside, Grace moved to Manhattan and worked as the assistant photo editor of Condé Nast's Self Magazine under editor-in-chief Alexandra Penney. She went on to shoot numerous lifestyle and beauty stories over the years for the magazine, as well as for a multitude of other publications, including Glamour, Travel And Leisure, Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, Parents, Condé Nast Traveler, Child, Prevention, and Allure.
Twenty years later, Grace’s photographic approach has evolved from her early art school roots to her now signature naturalistic and cinematic style of photography and video. Grace is known primarily for directing her subjects in an effortless, lifestyle way that is full of character and personality. Grace loves to shoot women from her female POV, and is thrilled with the current cultural evolution that embraces women of all ages and sizes in fashion and beauty.
Grace shoots and directs for lifestyle, beauty, and fashion clients including Avon, Eileen Fisher, No.6, Colgate, Boots, Clairol, Dove, Rachel Ray, Pantene, Liz Claiborne, Target, Cyzone, Esika, Duluth Trading Company, Skip Hop, Kendra Scott, Olay, and Talbots.
Grace has photographed a range of celebrities such as Christy Turlington, Darby Stanchfield, William Levy, Melania Trump, Ana de la Reguera, Stana Katic, Bijou Phillips, Cory Kennedy, Jennifer Morrison, Carmen Electra, Julie Delpy, Jessica Simpson, Cynthia Rowley, Shiva Rose, Sarah Chalke, Elisha Cuthbert, Mia Tyler, Daisy Fuentes, Rhona Mitra, Whitney Port, Daveigh Chase, Sarah Wynter, B. Smith, Jesse Martin, Frederick Fekkai, Sergio Garcia, and Henrik Lundqvist.
Grace lives in the West Village with her two (teenage and pre-teen) kids who keep her in a constant state of chaos and amusement.
